O líder do Black Eyed Peas, will.i.am, disse estar "muito entusiasmado e nervoso ao mesmo tempo" com sua estréia como artista solo, com o lançamento, no dia 25 de setembro, do álbum "Songs About Girls".
"Eu pensei: como e por que eu deveria lançar um projeto solo? Podia só fazer um outro disco do Black Eyed Peas", disse ele à Billboard.com.
A idéia, disse ele, foi fazer de "Songs About Girls" um trabalho conceitual e semi-autobiográfico, "em que todas as músicas contêm uma história sobre se apaixonar, se desapaixonar, tentar se apaixonar de novo, de destruir o amor e de dar início a uma nova situação".
Além das 12 músicas do disco, will.i.am gravou videoclipes para oito faixas e juntou-as em um "filme sobre fazer um filme", que vai acompanhar o CD.
O cantor pretende apresentar algumas das músicas do álbum solo ao vivo nos shows do Black Eyed Peas, na turnê internacional de dois meses que começa no dia 4 de setembro em Israel, e que vai passar pelo Brasil, além de Europa, Ásia, África, Austrália, México e outros países da América do Sul.
Segundo o cantor, a turnê não vai passar pela América do Norte porque, como o grupo não tem material novo, os fãs "não aparecem" nas apresentações.
O lançamento do clipe de "I Got If From My Mama", será amanha(31/07) no TRL americano. No Brasil, quem tiver acesso ao canal MTV Hits poderá assistir o clipe na TV na quarta (01/08) ás 11h ou 19h.
Will.i.am participou como um
dos membros honorários, na noite desse sábado, de um jantar de gala
beneficente promovido pela Grammy Foundation. O evento se chama A Starry
Night(Uma Noite Estrelada) e, para participar dele, cada convidado teve de
desembolsar US$ 2,5 mil. O evento é uma das primeiras celebrações do 50º
aniversário do prêmio Grammy.

"Como e porque eu colocaria aí pra todos um projeto solo? Eu poderia fazer outro álbum do Black Eyed Peas" falou a Billboard. Ele disse que esteve fazendo "Songs About Girls" como um projeto semi-autobiográfico "Onde todas as músicas falam sobre um apaixonado desiludido, um amor acabando, a tentativa de voltar a amar, a desistruturação do amor e a destruição do amor e começando uma nova situação. Essa jornada toda faz dele um só".
O 1º single é "I Got It From My Mama," que já está a caminho das paradas das rádios. O álbum têm a participação de um visitante estrela: Snoop Dogg na música "Donque."
O CD possui 12 músicas e o Will.I.Am irá filmar 8 filmes (clipes) delas e será "um filme sobre fazendo um filme" que irá acompanhar o CD. O álbum irá incluir também uma nova plataforma digital feita pelo selo musical do Will e a Interscope Record.
Will planeja fazer muitas performaces do material de Songs About Girls quando o Black Eyed Peas fizer sua turnê promocional nos próximos meses. "Este não é um álbum do BEP" ele explica, contudo ele afirma que já tem pronto novas músicas do Black Eyed Peas para o próximo álbum que será lançado ano que vêm.
